Glimmer Austin, a local foundation, is providing $200,000 in emergency funding to local nonprofits serving the homeless, hungry and elderly.
Initially, Glimmer Austin is supporting 12 local nonprofits who run homeless shelters for women and children, as well as food programs for homeless people and foster children.
The mix of local organizations being supported includes Caritas, Lifeworks, Mobile Loaves, and Boys and Girls Club, as well as a number of lesser known smaller ones including Street Youth Ministry, the Other Ones Foundation and Lighter Loads ATX.
