SEED GRANT RECIPIENTS
Save The Food works to reduce food insecurity by providing to those in need while also reducing food waste. On average, the organization does about 44 grocery store pickups per week and saved around $100,000 worth of food in the last quarter of 2020. Their work wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated work of their amazing volunteers. Our grant will go towards managing the rapid expansion this project has been experiencing. The funding will go toward things like providing additional resources (such as cooling equipment) as well as an initial salary for program managers.

Mission Accomplished provides resources for individuals and families to help them live more prosperous lives. In 2020, the non-profit was able to help 613 individuals. One project they work on is Operation Clean Clothes (OCC) providing laundry services to individuals experiencing homelessness. G|A funding will go towards this project to help expand the reach of laundry services to those experiencing homelessness in the Austin area.

Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation serves the community by providing stability, education, and resources to help women and their children break the cycle of systemic inequality. Through the Feeding Austin Family program, STWF serves an average of 350 meals per day. This organization is just one of many that has seen an increased need from the community for support during COVID-19. The G|A funding will go towards helping pay for an administrative assistant and additional supplies as this program continues to expand.

Change1 aims to support youth in foster care for them to reach their fullest potential. The organization recognizes that many youths are unprepared when they leave the foster care system as one out of every four will become homeless within four years. Their new initiative is aimed at providing training development programs to prepare foster youth for adulthood. G|A funding will go towards hiring staff to engage in capacity building as well as funding programs for youth leaders and community partners.

GROWTH GRANT RECIPIENTS

Caritas has been serving the Austin community since 1964. Their Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project (YHDP) served a total of 55 clients across 38 households last year. This program provides subsidy programs to help households become self-sufficient. Our grant funding will be used for direct client support including furniture, cleaning services, workforce training, childcare, haircuts, school supplies, and risk mitigation funds.
Dress for Success Austin helps women secure employment. DSA has been able to help over 16,000 women find stable career paths. DFSA is piloting a new mentorship program in 2021 that G|A will help support. Our grant will allow for the implementation of a 6-week program with trained mentors and mentee training in subjects such as goal mapping, resumes/cover letters, marketing yourself, interview preparation, and job search strategy.
Lifeworks provides a variety of support to help youth achieve stable employment despite challenges such as COVID-19 job loss, foster/juvenile justice involvement, trauma and mental health crisis, and homelessness. In their last quarter, 94% of unemployed youth in their programs were able to achieve employment. Our investment will go towards supporting a new Employment Specialist position, direct client assistance, and workplace stipends for 40 youth.
We look forward to seeing what our partners will continue to accomplish and are excited to support them along the way.

Sincerely,
The Glimmer|Austin Team
