AUSTIN, Texas — A third round of talks on the homeless problem in the city of Austin will be held Tuesday at St. Edward’s University.
Mayor Steve Adler and four other council members will be in attendance, including representatives from south Austin districts where people have voiced concerns over the city’s proposed new shelter.
The public conversation comes just days after the city released a new memo on restrictions of where people can and can not camp. The proposal prohibits those experiencing homelessness from camping in areas with high pedestrian or vehicle traffic, and areas prone to flooding. The proposed rules will be voted on by the city council in September.
