AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin City Council is expected to vote on an ordinance called the “Austin Action Plan to end Homelessness” during Thursday’s meeting.
If approved, the city would develop a local government corporation that would run as a nonprofit organization on behalf of the city addressing homelessness issues.
Part of the plan includes providing an emergency shelter, permanent housing, and an alternative to panhandling by collecting contributions that directly assist the homeless.
The designated office would focus on meeting the needs of those experiencing homelessness.
