From being overdrawn on a bank account by nearly $1,000 to being able to buy her first car and now saving for a wedding, Mandy Donaldson has learned the meaning of financial management while trying to balance work and life expectations.

Like many others who grew up as foster children, Donaldson learned adult life skills through a series of foster system programs like PAL, or Preparation for Adult Living, which focuses on providing older youth with skills they need to live independently after they grow out of the foster system.
